Tamara Johnson was born in Waco, Texas. She received a BFA from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003 and a MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2012. Johnson’s work manifests as a collision of hand made objects and performative situations attempting to evoke a familiarity of place, both public and private. Johnson has exhibited in a various commercial and public spaces around the U.S including Long Island City, Staten Island, Hudson, Brooklyn, Boston, MA, Burlington, VT and Dallas, TX. Recently, Johnson was a feature artist on Public Art Review, and will present a new installation at Wave Hill in the Bronx, NY 2015. Tamara currently lives in Ridgewood, Queens.
