What is ArtMgt?

We are an online service providing convenient, flexible options for bringing original works of art to your business or home through art leasing, sales and commissions. Our clients have access to a curated collection of art from artists who have been featured in prominent publications including The New York Times, Artforum and Art in America.

What services do you offer?

We offer a variety of services including art leasing, cleared art rentals, sales and commissions. Additionally, we provide advisory services for clients seeking involved curatorial assistance.

Why lease art?

Leasing provides flexibility. Interior designers may need to stage a property or decorate a temporary space. For collectors, our service offers the chance to live with a work of art for a while before committing to a decision.

Additionally, half of each payment turns into credit which can be applied for up to 50% of an artwork's purchase price.

Businesses who lease art may also benefit from a tax-deduction. See details below.

Leasing & Cleared Art Rentals

What is the difference between leasing art and cleared art rentals?

Cleared Art Rentals focus on serving clients who need to incorporate artworks into a space that will be used for the production of goods or services. For example, a Production Designer may need to include an artwork in a movie set, TV show backdrop or photo shoot.

Art leasing brings original artworks into residential or commercial spaces for a period of time without the rights to use the work beyond display.

Art leases have a minimum term of 3 months while cleared art rentals are available on a month-to-month basis.

Is a deposit required?

Each leased artwork requires a deposit of 2 monthly payments. Cleared art rentals require a deposit of 1 month’s payment.

Is there a minimum number of artworks required to start a lease?

No, you can start with just one.

Is there a minimum lease period?

Cleared rentals can be leased for a minimum of 1 month while art leases require a 3 month minimum term. After the initial minimum term is completed, your lease will renew automatically each month. Please notify us 30 days in advance when you would like to return the work.

Do you offer month-to-month leases and cleared rentals?

After the minimum term, art leases and cleared rentals both continue on a month-to-month basis, unless you would like to arrange another fixed term.

What about insurance?

For art leases and cleared art rentals, ArtMgt requires proof of insurance for the installation site, which will cover the value of the artworks installed.

When does the rental period begin?

It begins once the artwork has been safely delivered to you. If delivery takes a while, we will prorate that first month accordingly.

Is leasing and renting art a tax-deductible business expense?

In many cases, it can be if it is an “ordinary and necessary” expense within the context of your business. We suggest consulting with your tax advisor since each circumstance will vary.
