About the Artist
In his work, Eyal Pinkas creates delicate and meticulous compositional installations of daily objects in lifelike sets. He plans each aspect of the shoot, constructing a festive faux universe, which actively takes part in the worship of the photographed object, while simultaneously – in a compassioned manner, ridiculing the focus of adoration.
Born in Haifa, Israel – Eyal Pinkas received his BFA in photography from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, and MFA from The Bezalel Academy in Tel Aviv. Pinkas has exhibited in a variety of galleries and institutions including the Kunsthaus Essen, Germany; Ashod Museum of Art – Monart Center, Israel; Amsterdams Centrum voor Fotografie, The Netherlands and Contemporary by Golconda, Israel. His work is held in the Igal Ahovy collection, Mandel collection as well as many private collections. In 2008 he received a Startstipendium from the Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture, and in 2012 he was among the winners of the 'Young Artist Award' awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Sport, Israel.
