As an immigrant to the United States, Antoine Lefebvre looks at how globalization and digital technologies have transformed our relationship to space and how one can create a sense of place in a complex, multilayered world. Playful and poetic in approach to creation – his sculptures vacillate between the physical and virtual as he uses computer programs and industrial techniques alongside everyday materials and objects. Mr. Lefebvre was born in France, where he studied city planning and cinema before moving to New York in 2007. In 2009 he received a Masters in Fine Art at Parsons The New School for Design. His work has been shown in several New York galleries and institutions, as well as in other cities in the US and in Europe including: The Kitchen, New York, NY; FLECKER Gallery, Selden, NY; Dimensions Variable, Miami, FL; NURTUREart, Brooklyn, NY and the Nr. z. P Gallery, Bielefeld, Germany. Artist residencies include the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha, NE; The Fountainhead Residency, Miami, FL; The Sculpture Space, Utica, NY; The Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT; and Artists Unlimited, Bielefeld, Germany.
